G'Day All (& off my pedestal!),
I recently purchased a plant with two labels
(a speculation, but only AUD 10 for a largeish plant): one was Bletia
purpurea & the other B. purpurea x ?.
My 8 printed copies of Sanders from 1969 lists only 3 Bletia hybrids, the
only B. purpurea one being an unlikely cross with Chysis bractescens
(this plant has inherited none of Chysis vegetative characteristics).
I do not have the up-to-date Sanders put out in electronic form. Does
anyone out there have a list of fairly recent Bletia hybrids. Or is Bletia
purpurea like Zygo. intermedium? That is, when an attempt to do an
intergeneric cross with it is made, you just get B. purpurea? I certainly
hope this is the case, haven't got a Bletia at all.
More calmly and certainly cordially, Phil
