That is most likely the case. It is not easy to make a mono-fungal culture in
the first place, and it requires some skill and routine to keep the
subcultures free from contamination with unwanted fungi, bacteria, mites and
other pests. And even then there will always be som losses.

B} the way, the word "mycorrhiza" refers to a root or other plant part AND a
symbiotic fungus. In other words, the phytobmont as well as the mycbiont. The
isolated endophytic fungus is just "the fungus".
