It is hard to spell "Mycorrhiza" and apparently also other terms associated with this phenomenon, or maybe my last mail on this subject was electronically contaminated. Anyway, it is "mycobiont" for the fungus part of the mycorrhiza and "phytobiont" for the plant. "Endophyte" can be used for the fungus in orchid mycorrhiza, but mycorrhizal fungi in ectomycorrhiza (many forest trees!) do not enter the plant and are not "endo-".
Some people have referred to either the fungus or the plant as the "host", which is highly confusing. (One provides the meal, the other the location). English speaking people use to put mycorrhiza in the plural (mycorrhizae) in many connections, I guess it is because they think of the translation "roots".
