David,

It is obvious that whatever "facts" are being discussed, they are being
clouded by opinions. As I see it, if the group you are so eloquently
supporting should gain control of the AOS, they would surely destroy this 80
plus year old organization. That is my opinion, I don't wish it to become
fact.

You have never addressed one issue in all your posts. Has this campaign of
yours got any roots in your own failure to be advanced in the AOS Executive
structure some years ago? I have always seen you as a person of knowledge
but have you let your own disappointment push your efforts in an anti-AOS
direction? I hope not.

Who would showcase orchids in South Florida if not the AOS? R F Orchids do a
fine job but I do not see many orchid nurseries with either the commitment
nor the range of orchids to do the job. Commercial jealousies often cloud
the bigger picture and it is appropriate that a neutral body like the AOS is
both spokesman for and promoter of the orchid. Just imagine if we did it at
Kerry's, all the bleating about us being advantaged over our competitors
would reach a crescendo. We promote and financially support the AOS with
every care tag on every plant sold. Who else in the US orchid industry does
likewise?

I think you are being mischievous in bringing Carlos Fighetti into the
discussion. He has always been one to place the welfare of the AOS above any
immediate personal goals. He works as part of a team and enjoys the respect
of both the nominee for President and Executive Vice President. As has been
clearly spelled out, he was next to Jim Rassmann in the presumed order of
advancement when Jim was dropped by the 2002 Nominating Committee. So Jim
has been restored to his previous position. In the words of a far more
worthwhile woman that Marilyn Monroe, "Where's the beef?"
