I have recently been moving many of my plants from pots to something coming closer to matching their ephiphytic nature. I've seen some discussion on this list over the years re: which kinds of wood are best for mounting. I'd like to know if anyone has a list of "best" or "worst" (or any research supporting those judgments), or does it matter. Anything work particularly well? Badly? I know some have used cork quite successfully (apparently in spite of the oak tannins). I have myself used grape and cholla. Is it just a matter of what's easiest to find? Any other factors?

Thanks!
