We ought to just go > ahead and nuke > em and get it over with. > The war going on lately is just the latest-they've happened before for various reasons (non-orchid group politics sneaking in, personal hurt feelings, and even occasionally vigorous disagreements over cultural methods), and I'm sure they will happen again. I've been in this group and it's predesessor for more than 10 years, and I've decided that the wars seem to be inevitable (no matter how regrettable they are) and have taken to mostly ignoring them (with occasional amusement).
While people could stop them by various methods, it seems that that is an overly idealistic idea-good in theory, impossible in practice. I used, until a few days ago, to think it was only orchid groups that attracted such passionate people, but then my husband showed me a web movie that proved me wrong! The film indicates the differences between the real world and the internet, and the section on politics had me laughing so hard I almost fell off the couch! The link is http://www.bsd-unix.net/seitz/funny/RvB_NYC2.mov , but I should warn you that it isn't a family-friendly movie. The movie has several sections, and all of them are amazingly perceptive. Anyone who's spent any time on the internet will appreciate it AND should learn from it-I sure did! Since I have only one not-very-fragrant orchid blooming right now, my vegetable garden is much more interesting these days than my orchids are.
