Hello OGDers :
Thanks to those who commented on my post ('Just wondering if the orchidophiles have a patron saint.') :

According to the suggestions received, it appears that the following are competing for the title of 'patron saint of the orchidophiles' :
- Saint Andrew of the Healing Swamplands : does not figure in the Saints index...
- Saint Fiacre : already very busy, being a multitask patron saint ; he already has the patronage of barrenness, box makers, cab drivers, fistula, florists, gardeners, haemorrhoids, hosiers, pewterers, piles, taxi drivers, sterility, syphilis, tile makers, venereal disease.
- Saint Fiasco : does not figure in the Saints index...
- Saint Guido : could not find his credentials as a patron saint.
- The Virgin - Rosa Mistica (the Mystic Rose) : if she is efficient in Venezuela, she might also be useful with my Colombian species.
*********
I have thought about Saint Jude but he deals with desperate situations : I prefer to be optimist.
Maybe, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, also known as Our Lady of Quick Help, could be more appropriate when an orchid appears to be dying...
********* Thanks for the suggestions and good humour.
Orchid growing shall be fun...
Regards,
Viateur
