When sterilizing with chlorine it is important to keep in mind that
it evaporates. Porous pots need to be air dried thoroughly so that
the chlorine can get to the surface of the pot. As I understand it, a
short dip or soak in chlorine solution isn't enough to sterilize. So
if you are soaking something for 24 hours the container needs to be
closed so that the concentration remains strong enough to work.
