Stainless steel will corrode. Andy should know this if he ever used bleach in his kitchen sink.
There is a comment on this site about halogen corrosion of Stainless steel.
Also there are some 30 grades of stainless steel and some are corrosion resistant but some lower grades as used for vehicle mufflers (silencers) will corrode due to road salts.
