They will eat the roots but that is probably not what is eating your flowers. Look for thrips or slugs. The only thing that will reliably kill bush snails is Mesurol. I don't know if it is sold in Australia. Ask in your nearest garden center or get hold of a certified pesticide applicator. Iris
Thrips do not eat flowers, but do leave a typical streaking on them. They also leave behind feces while feeding, little black spots along the feeding 'lanes'. It could possibly be slugs, you'd have to look for them at night as they're mainly a nocturnal pest. The bush snails live in the potting media so are hard to find, but they will feed on the flowers at night, returning to the media as daylight approaches and feed on the roots. Iris is correct, the most reliable molluskicide is Mesurol. Do a Google search for Mesurol, find the active ingredient and see if there is something comparable in Australia. Drench your potting mix twice, about 2 weeks apart. This should take care of the snails.
