Subject: [OGD] Gavino Rotor's work.

Of course it still stands, Gavino has been a meticulous researcher and he
was responsible for some of the major scientific advances in orchid
scientific knowledge. He is in poor health these days but still lives on
Signal Mountain. In the days when he and his partner ran Crestwood Orchids,
they were renowned for superbly grown plants and Gold Medal winning
displays. He has never had the recognition he deserves from the orchid
community unlike a few who loudly blow their own trumpets and solicit
accolades.

Really? He's still alive? Marvelous! The AOS should reprint his work. In my rudimentary reading his work has been shoulders upon which everyone else stands. I was amazed to see how much of the phalalenopsis literature (on getting plants to bloom etc) is nothing more than an extension of Rotor's work.
