Kathy, Joanne made most of the early vini Paphs at Stewarts, she worked closely with Norito Hasegawa and Rex van Delden. For example Maudiae "Prieta" FCC/AOS was bred by her. It has been superceded as a flower of quality but as a pot plant parent it is unrivaled. It flushes three growths from each mature growth and passes the fast growing traits on to all its offspring.
Rex has died recently. He was a wonderful man, a natural scientist rather than a university trained one. He had suffered terribly as a prisoner of war but was optimistic in everything he did. We have lost and are losing a whole generation of wonderful orchid people with a vast fund of knowledge. I am not sure it has been recorded or valued.
