I can't speak for any other tour operator, but as I do work with Bob Fuchs on our (R.F. Orchids) tours I can tell you unequivocally that he hasn't escorted a collecting tour in quite a few years. The tours we put together today may involve orchid events such as shows or conferences (he leaves Monday, for example, for the 18WOC, and has a good sized group going), visits to habitats (parks, botanical gardens, etc.) and local growers, but these are not collecting trips at all. What other tour operators are doing (or not doing), I can't say. We do see references from time to time regarding other operators escorting groups for "salvage" activities, but we're not involved with them.
