Carnivorous plant enthusiasts who want to grow highland Nepenthes face many of the same challenges as Pleurothallid growers. The main problem is not humidity, but keeping the temperature low enough at night. If I remember correctly, "Carnivorous Plant Newsletter" had an article a couple of years ago that described a wardian case built out of a small top-opening refrigerator (or was it a freezer...anyway, one of the small, inexpensive units). The insulated door was replaced by plexiglass so that fluorescent lights could be used overhead. A thermostat was placed inside the unit to control temperature. IIRC, the case easily maintained 50 F at night, so that ultra-highland species could be grown indoors. Presumably, one could use a programmable thermostat to control both night and day temperatures.
