In response to the query about growing pleurothallids, masd. etc. I experimented for a number of years with a large Florist refrigerator, bought used and rigged up to my specifications...ie: temperature controls, high 75 daytime 55 nighttime, extra lighting was added, alarms set up to prevent overheating etc. small muffin fans were added in both upper corners. It was a two door refrigerator, both doors were clear window glass so could enjoy orchids blooming. I also added miltonias to the mix and many different types of minature orchids. The miltonias grew like weeds with dinner plate sized flowers. I found that the refrigerator would hold over 500 different orchids, and it was truly a delight. Total cost was under $1,000. All I had to do was mist it daily with fine nozzle and remember to close the doors tightly. I also added chicken wire frames to cover the interior of refrig. At the bottom I had a step (4 levels) so that I could maximize space. J.Hirt
