I am sure that I will word this poorly but I am compelled to try.
What is politically correct in a world culture? Isn't there a difference between local idium and the blatent 'anger the world, triumpalistic comment/nationalistic jinglism?' How does one classify the recent comments by Andy Easton (and others)?
Following 9/11 one of our group expressed the feeling felt by many that the United States had finally reaped it's harvest. It was poor timing (and most politically incorrect) but it did accurately reflect the deep seated feeling of many, even some in the US.
In 1958, as a most very fresh 2nd Lt., I arrived in the Land of the Morning Calm. I looked around and said to my self that this must be a joyious land because so many woman were wearing white. Of course I was wrong. I didn't know local custom. Since then I have made a real effort to understand and have begun to understand the term "The Ugly American."
I stop now with the request that we stop the nationalistic/jinglist crap and share our love of orchids.
