Andy recently mentioned a Lycasteria as never having bloomed. He is almost right Lycaste Darius was grown by Marie Riopelle under a bench when after 20 years of growing it it actually bloomed. They took it to judging and received a Jc/Aos for their efforts (Jim and Marie). This was probably when Andy was in our region. My friend Bob Hull crossed a Zygopetalum Artur Elle with Lycaste skinneri alba which made Zygocaste Northwest Passage (An exceptional cross! ). I think that anything in this group is probably compatable, but few breeders have the inclination or the desire to make them. I myself am a little reluctant to make a 1000 plants that will probably fill a 1 gallon container when mature.

PS: The stories of Andy in our region are legion, but I did not become a Judge until long after he left. They are also positive.
