Dear Ogd's

Are the roots you are discussing what are called
' adventitious ' roots by Hawkes.
Regards>>>
Adventitious roots are roots that develop all along the stem as in Epidendrum radicans.

Trash basket roots grow up out of the medium forming an erect beard around the base of a plant

Grammatophyllum speciosum - daily waterings weekly fertilizing - not as intense as G scriptum but mine is a seedling that is only 3 feet tall.

Grammatophyllum scriptum - Daily waterings - weekly fertilizer - grandaddy of trash baskets

Acriopsis lillifolia - Daily waterings - weekly fertilizer- trash roots just beginning to develop - plant has bloomed twice for me so it is mature but not old

Catasetum integerinum - Dense trash basket - wet dry depending on growth

Clowesia russelianum - dense trash basket - wet dry watering depending on growth

Clowesia warscewiczii - less dense trash basket - wet dry watering depending on growth
Cymbidium finlaysonianum - lessdense trash basket - daily waterings while in growth - 3 times a week when not
