Peter, many thanks for elucidating on Dendrobium furcatum. Your
descriptions are as close as many of us will get to being there. Also
thanks to Jose for searching out the synonymy. This leads me to think
that Dendrobium furcatum is probably not a parent of Dendrobium Mousmee
(Dendr. furcatum x Dendr. thrysiflorum) as listed in Sanders. The
flowers look like Dendr. thrysiflorum on steroids but the 30-45cm canes
are not D. thrysiflorum-like. My orchid interests are basically species
and I would say that the flowers of Dendr. Mousmee are decidedly
species-like (Dendrobium Section Callista). Which asks the question:
Does anyone have any thoughts on one of the possible parents of Dendr.
Mousmee other than Dendr. thrysiflorum? Bernard C. Gerrard
