Dear Peter,
I don't have they faintest idea of what B. vittatum from Java is, but I
always regard Kew checklist as just extra info (I am sure you do too) for
we, that live closer to the species habitats, have many more opportunities
to see and know the species and frequently can have divergent opinions from
what is written in Kew or MGB. I assure you that I would regard you opinion
about some species from your area much higher than something is written in
Kew.
Of course they do a nice job, but apparently cannot keep up updated with all
synonyms, distribution, etc. At least 150 synonymes that Pabst published on
late seventies have just been included on Kew last month. Furthermore, many
of Brazilian publications have never been addressed in Kew checklist.
