I think this list could use a little more interesting discussion. Taxanomic intercourse and Dendrobiums just aren't doing it for me.
So, to start this off right, I would like people to help me identify the types of roots for paphs, their structure, and their components. For example, are those roots hair the pelotons of fungi, or are they normally produced like that. And what information do you have to back this up? What about the mycorhizzal infestations which are supposedly in young roots, but not older ones? Are some of the roots aerial? What about those with and without hair? Why are roots from wild paphs more hirsute than those from cultivation? Why are there roots in flask, if the hair is supposedly from fungus? What function or chemicals do the fungi provide to the roots? _______________________________________________ the OrchidGuide Digest (OGD) [email protected] http://orchidguide.com/mailman/listinfo/orchids_orchidguide.com
