Brieger originally proposed Lichenastra as a section of Dockrillia which included D. lichenastra and D. toressae. Why they weren't later included in Dockrillia as it is known today, I don't know. D. Jones and M. Clements published a checklist of Dockrillia in The Orchadian 12(2)(1997) which did not list the above taxa but mentioned a conflict of views between Brieger (1981) and Rauschert (1983)but not specifically. Rauschert is credited with the naming of many Dockrillia species.
