The second great invention is nitrile gloves, not so much protection from
poisons but protection from the ravages of the clay pots and wet hands for
hours at a time. They are much sturdier than the latex gloves commonly used
and provide just as good tactile handling properties. Around here they are
about $3.50 for 15 gloves (why an odd number I have never figured out).

Are we talking about the nitrile gloves commonly used in medical situations? Thin, colored (usually green-blue), come in sizes S,M,L & XL. If so, I did a quick google search and found that there are many different brands and on-line suppliers, some at $17/100 (ack!) and some for $12.50/100 (less of an ack! - I'm used to buying latex gloves at $6-7/100,*G*). Or, if you are on good terms with your dentist, maybe they'll order a box for you via their supplier.
