I want to thank Icones for pointing out that albino means a loss of normal pigmentation and is not
restricted to anthocyanin production. The search I did to see how albino is being used in the
botanical literature was to go to "Google Scholar" (go to the Google home page, click on "more" in
the headings, Scholar is in the right hand column) and type in "albino plants". This gets you
some 4600 references. I just looked at the first two pages.
Guido, thanks for remining me that plants and animals are different. Sometimes when I'm with my
orchids, I lose track of that distinction.
