I have Epc. Siam Jade 'Fuchs' Key Lime', AM/AOS. Since it is in bloom, the questions regarding its pedigree are itching me again. From what I gather, it was bred in Thailand and registered by someone named Yen. Apparently a batch of them were imported by RF Orchids & distributed in this country, particularly their awarded clone. Another clone was awarded last year, with similar appearance.
The first question is regarding C. Penny Kuroda. This cross was registered by an amateur. Every clone of Penny Kuroda I've seen a picture of is peloric. Where did that come from? Summer Snow was an old-time standard white cattleya. Siam Jade is not peloric, so the question is only rhetorical. Another question was regarding the fringed lip. Some authorities say Euchile mariae does not have a fringed lip; Julie from RF Orchids says it does. Pictures I've seen show a slightly erose edge on the lip. Likewise for C. tigrina/guttata. Epc. Vienna Woods has a fringed lip. So I would assume there was a happy marriage of dominant genes & the fringed lip is legitimate.
