In ODG, Vol. 7, Issue 356, several posts appeared regarding the Margaret Mee Exhibition currently traveling in the U.S. For readers who might not be able to attend the exhibition at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, Carnegie Mellon University, I am sharing information about other venues for the exhibition for your vacation-planning pleasure.
The exhibit began at the New York Botanical Garden in April, 2004 and ended there on July 25, 2004. The second venue for the exhibit was the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota, FL (Jan. 8, 2005-April 3, 2005). The Hunt Institute mentioned in OGD, issue 356, is the third venue of 7 in the US. After the exhibit closes on July 31, 2005, at the Hunt, Margaret Mee's magnificent watercolors, on loan from Kew, will be on view at: Patrick & Beatrice Haggerty Museum of Art Marquette University, Milwaukee 8 September - 4 December 2005 Gibbes Museum of Art Charleston, South Carolina 10 January - 2 April 2006 Chicago Botanic Garden Glencoe, Illinois 1 May - 30 July 2006 Arizona Sonora Desert Museum Tucson 2 September - 26 November 2006 On January 18, 2005, Craig Brough, Enquiries Librarian at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, kindly sent me the venues for the Mee exhibit.
