There has been no mention anywhere yet in any of the forums I read of a major new development in the commercial orchid world. Floricultura, by far the world's largest producer of young meristem orchid plants, has acquired a very large greenhouse property in Salinas, California. Probably they will rebuild it into a modern, state of the art Dutch glasshouse operation over the next several years. Undoubtedly this will have a major stimulus on the U.S. orchid market with future access to the premier Dutch Phalaenopsis, Cymbidiums, Odontoglossum Alliance and Miltoniopsis. We are in for an exciting orchid future and lots of new growers to finish the Floricultura product!
