Sulphur Powder is poisonous to arachnids. I can't vouch for leaches. When I was in the scouts we used a sock of which the bottom end was filled with sulphur powder. We would bang the sulphur powder against our lower legs dusting them to keep chiggers off. I guess with 11 year old boys you have to get dust them all over. There is a town south of New Orleans on the Mississippi delta called Port Sulphur. Sadly it maybe now was a town. They use to mine sulphur there and the town was cover in a yellow dusting of the stuff. There were no spiders in the town. They also grew a lot very sweet satsumas probably because of the rich Mississippi mud. Satsumas are a citrus like a tangerine but taste different.
