Sotheby's (sic) auction at the weekend of 100 seedlings of the rare Wollemi Pine.
Wollemi pine, Wollemia nobilis, belongs to the Araucariaceae. Bonsai growers were waiting until it was commercially available to see if it could be used for bonsai. Judging from pictures I've seen so far, it isn't as ugly as its cousin the Norfolk Island pine, but it doesn't look much like bonsai material. However, someone will undoubtedly try.
