Hi all,
I use sphagnum moss in a large number of pots and many different types.
However the main reason why the moss goes slimy is the use of chemical
fertilizer. I only use organic fertilizer and have no problems. A number of
people that I know who use chemical fertilizer are not able to grow in
sphag. for more than a few months before repotting.
Also Sharon ,
your cattleya looks quite good and I am not sure what you are worried about.
I have a couple of thousand and if they all looked like that I would be very
happy.
The new growths will catch up and no doubt exceed the previous years growth.
However, it does take time.
Cheers
Max.
