Hello Peter and all, There is or was a product called PPM sold by Phytotechnology Labs at http://www.phytotechlab.com that is a broad-spectrum biocide that can be used against bacteria and fungi. I checked my catalog (issue 2004-06) that lists technical information (instructions) for the product on page 149. It is listed as product number P820 on that page. I tried to find it on their website by looking at product pages and their search engine but couldn't find it listed. Maybe somebody who orders from them would know if it is still offered and if it worked as advertised. It is listed as being able to remove contamination in culture, and if you take the explants out, sterilize them and then place them back into culture. I haven't used it so don't know if it works or if it is still available, but if you've spent alot for a rare plant it might be something worth trying.
