The reason that Phrag kovachii is so important is that most of the phrags are green and brown. Then phrag besseae was found which is a bright orange or red. That allowed the hybridizers to get some color into the them. However, besseae tends to grow out of the pot and tries to climb up since it found near waterfalls and grows up the walls. Phrag kovachii does not do that, is a wonderful purple color and is the size of your hand rather than a couple of inches. The hybtridizers are salivating for this one. Bev
