Thank you Paul for the identification.  Since there was only one of these found, I will assume there are no particularly rotted conditions, and I am relived to hear he is not one of the BAD bugs.  Why was he sticking up like his tail was glued down?  He stayed that way for about 20 minutes, waving his head around a little, under a desk lamp, something most bugs don't like, while I fiddled with my camera and tried to get these impossible pictures, successful only because I took so many pictures.  Cynthia, Prescott, AZ
