Ed, Some question about Merit are you using it as a liquid or Wetable power, and where are you getting it from? It sounds interesting with its very low LD50 of about 2000 mg /kg. I like to have a variety of insecticides available to me and this sounds like one I want to add to my collection. thanks Tom Hillson .......... Hi Tom, I buy the 2 oz bottles of Merit 75% wettable powder ($50.00 US) which is available to me locally at a farmer's cooperative store. Dosage is 1/10 teaspoon per gallon of water to be used as a spray and/or irrigation to the roots. Retreatment is every 21 to 30 days, which is rarely necessary. ;^) For the small hobby grower with a few plants it makes sense to purchase an inexpensive ready-to-use product such as the Bayer Advanced Garden Insect Killer, which is 0.012% Merit (imidacloprid), comes in a 24 oz spray bottle and can treat up to 35 plants according to the labeling. This is a water based product. Price here locally is between $4.85 and $6.95 US. Works wonders.
