This is from a newspaper article in the Wednesday 4/26/2006 The Wall
Street Journal newspaper entitled "Now Blooming: The $10 Orchid" by
reporter Tomothy W. Martin -- a quote by Dr. Rob Griesback, geneticist
for the US Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, MD -- "You can take
a potted-plant orchid, put it in your home, give it no light and no
water and a month later it's still alive and in bloom."
If this is the advice coming from the USDA and then through the large
orchid producers supplying plant material to the mass marketing box
stores to consumers, I am guessing there will be an even bigger market
for the throw-away orchid???
