My point was simply that, as one single species on this little planet, and one that has been around for so little time compared with many far more successful ones, it seems a bit arrogant of us to assume that qualities of climate - good or bad - are determinable only from our perspective rather than from that of the biomass as a whole!  It could be argued that, had we not evolved, the evolutionary process might have avoided a big hiccup that we have caused. On the other hand, since we and our superior brains (if not collective good sense) have mucked things up, I suppose we must subscribe to the biological self-preservation ethic. This leaves us with the need to guess/calculate/interpret exactly what the outcome will be. Does anyone really know if 'global warming' will prove disastrous (to humans) or, by great good fortune, delay the onset of the next glacial phase and allow us, as a species, to make an even greater mess of things?  Here's another fine mess we've gotten us into . . . . .hu!
