Hello to all Several people on this forum have asked about the e-AOS program.
I have a copy installed on my computer and have hardly begun to use it but I do have several comments. First and foremost, it apparently has a total of 12,000 award photos. Nothing beats an award photo and 12,000 seems like a great start. In addition, they are adding current award photos as well as adding older award photos. The award photos are in alphabetical order, except for a few typos. The Sanders portion is similar to Wildcatt with one exception - there are no percentages of species. With progeny, it adds 2 things that Wildcatt does not have: it lists all hybrids from a specific plant. It adds both the name of the hybridizer and the date of registration. When checking awards to a species or hybrids, it gives you the total awards and breaks them down (i.e. 1 FCC, 2 AMs, 14 HCCs) and by clicking on one of the awards it gives you dimensions. It also has the full award description and, when there is a photo, you just click on the button to see it. There are to be regular updates during the year - on the internet - for new awards and for new pics. All this for only $45 per year! I would pay that much just to get the pics. In fact, many CDs with orchid pics cost that much or more. There may be problems. I am sure that they will pop up BUT all of the ones that I have found are minor mis-spellings, etc. which appear to be data entry. Get online - that's the only way to purchase it - and buy it NOW! Or go to your local judging center and see how it works. Every AOS judging center received a copy. It will astound you.
