Title: Hello OGD readers!

Hello everybody.  My name is Paul Girdlestone, and I grow orchids in my home, under lights, in Winnipeg, Canada.  I grow a variety of oncidium intra-generics, mini-catts, paphs and phrags.  I have been reading the Digest with great interest.  I am very interested in reading more on orchid roots.  I would like to understand more about how orchids absorb nutrients.  I would also like to understand the chemistry of what goes on at the root.  I noticed a reference in the last little while to an article by A.M. Pridgeon and a book by Arditti.  I intend to follow up on those, but I wonder if there are any other references anyone could give me?  Also, I never studied botany in school, but I am becoming interested in botany and plant physiology.  Can anyone recommend a good textbook?
