The flower is fragrant and is a cross between Aerides odoratum (female) and Vanda stangeana (male). The fragrance is inherited from A. odoratum while the pink marking on its sepals and petals from V. stangeana. It has fast-growing tendencies, and forms a large, climbing clump readily. It requires warm temperatures, bright light, frequent water during spring and summer, and regular applications of dilute fertilizer. Aerides odoratum bears pendant racemes with densely packed waxy, white flowers stained with five showy purple patches. It is also a scented orchid. It is very common in northeast India and flowers during May-June. Vanda stangeana is also a beautiful endemic orchid of Manipur and blooms on an erect long, several flowered inflorescences. Flowers are yellowish green with chestnut brown markings. It flowers during March-April. The hybrid orchid... flowered seven years after cross pollination of the parents way back in 1999.
