"slipper orchid, smuggled into Britain from Malaysia two years ago, may be
returned to its natural habitat.

The Sabah Wildlife Department received confirmation late last month that
British Customs, which seized the Paphiopedilum rothschildanum and other...
orchids from researcher... Lim Sian Tiong, is discussing how best to return
the orchids with Kew Gardens, where they are being cared for.

Deputy director Laurentius Ambu said: "We don't know exactly when we'll get
our orchids back but we are looking forward to it, especially...
Paphiopedilum rothschildanum."

The P. rothschildanum is only found on Mount Kinabalu. Although a large
part of the mountain is a protected area, the species does grow outside the
park and is sold at a handful of roadside stalls"
