Hendrik,

Definitive answers in taxonomy do not really exist, as such. This is because various experts have different opinions, and that is as it should be. Most often by general consensus a taxon becomes accepted under a name, and more or less becomes the "definitive answer".  However, to your question. Epidendrum porpax is a synonym for Epidendrum peperomia. Therefore it is an Epidendrum and the correct species epitaph is peperomia. The expert in this case is Kew.

Hi to all on the list
I am trying to find the current valid and generally accepted name for Epidendrum porpax. Various authors in the last 10 years place it in either Epidendrum, Neolehmannia or even Nanodes. Does anyone have a definitive answer? Please let me know - I appreciate the list's assistance - it is THE place to get your queries resolved.
