For those of you interested in Bromeliads and orchid companions, check out my web sites, photos as well. I grow them all:
orchids, bromeliads, jungle cacti and conifers - the gems of the plant kingdom.
They compliment each other. All the non flowering green orchids are hidden by the colorful foliage of the broms, thus creating a fantastic display. Bromeliads provide a home for countless geckos and treefrogs.
Some of the large broms hold a few gallons of water and will humidify your greenhouse air.
Grow your orchids outdoors and surround them with a circle of the succulent bromeliads. Squirrels will not touch those. The spines of the bromeliads will stop them.
You may place all your plants between dwarf conifers and you will have a dazzling
exotic display.
Most members of the Michigan Orchid Society grow Bromeliads as well and use them in their shows, including the fantastic Tillandsias (Airplants)
