Hi, I need some help regarding a mule ear oncidium problem.

Over the years I have seen a number of bloom spikes of various
hybrids or species mule ears reach 12 or more inches and then simply
collapse or bend in the middle of the spike; ending blooming for that
growth. Some do bloom normally. I have been told that sunlight could
cause this, doing something to the sugars in the stem, but putting
plants in a shady area did not make a difference. Some of those
shaded also collapsed.

We have just been through a heatwave and one spike of 4 has now
collapsed, but I do not know if it is heat related. The greenhouse
was in the 90's during the worst of it. (The evaporative cooler can
only do so much with the high humidity present also. But other spikes
are still intact.

But could something else cause this?
