John, you sound just like one of us. I hasten to
add that I am not Australian but do have many friends among the orchid community
there. I often read in the obituary pages of the Miami Herald that so and so had
a great collection of orchids that they "grew and loved". It almost always turns
out that they have plants in their yard and on their patio that an orchid care
service looks after on their weekly calls! Hardly a real orchid grower in my
estimation. I have some wonderful lifelong friends in the English orchid
business including Keith Andrew ( a most talented hybridizer ) and Brian
Rittershausen of Burnham Nurseries. They are of course Brits and not
Poms!
