I've got some questions for other members on the list about Hydrogen
Peroxide in fertigation water. Pro's and Con's about it's use. Here's
what I know of it so far:

Pro's:
oxygenation of fertigation solutions
helps with preventing/irradicating fungi, algae or bacteria
can kill or suppress certain insect/fungal/bacterial pests when used
with compatible pesticides

Con's: (not much here)
burning of roots or leaves

I'm having some problems with some of my potted orchids. The symptoms
are not affecting any of the orchids hanging in pots. I know I've
overwatered during the summer, humidity was low so I figured they were drying
out faster than usual (wrong!). Now I've got a bunch of orchids that
are losing their roots (shrivelled pseudobulbs and withering leaves,
etc). The other thing I'm experiencing are leaves starting to turn yellow
at the tips and slowly dying off to the point where the bulb loses it's
leaf completely. It's not even a nice shade of yellow!! I also am
dealing with flat mites and that my be a contributing factor in the leaf
loss, but I'm not completely convinced it's the mites causing the problem.

I'm rambling because I'm trying to figure this out, sorry about that!

Can anyone on the list with experience using H2O2 let me know their
experiences with using it, good or bad.

As always, I'm very appreciative of all your comments and suggestions,

Cody

Hi Cody,
I use plain 'fresh' Peroxide when just a few plants need treatment. I spray it on the
infected area, undiluted. Works well. Cinnamon is another product which works. I also have used it outdoors on conifers, not as a preventative - as a cure.
I use it to cure fungal and bacterial problems. Daconil is a preventative.
I do not use it to eradicate pest and would never mix it with pesticides.
For pest in a small area I use 91 % Isopropyl Alcohol, not rubbing Alcohol. After an hour I spray the area with water. Alcohol dries out the plant and the pest as well.
Alcohol and Peroxide do not burn the leaves or roots.

If you are dealing with mites as well, why not spray a combination of pesticide/
fungicide which kills mites as well. Read the label. They are available.
If your plants are outside, mites can be hosed off with a very coarse spray.
