"I think you should set up a voluntary subscription system. (One can watch PBS or listen to public radio without subscribing too, and probably 90% do, but fortunately enough people think it's important enough to subscribe that they have operating funds) What you have is every bit as much of a public resource as NPR ... I think some percentage of people who use the site regularly would feel the same way. If 10%, or even 5% of the people who regularly use your site sent you $10 a year, I think that you would bring in easily enough to not have to support the site out of your own pocket. If you got too much, there are plenty of good orchid causes to send any excess to. (That would be a high-class problem). As one of your "loyal fans" ... IOSPE is one of my two most important references, the other being Orchidwiz, which is definitely NOT free ... I will get a calendar, but I can only use so many. And I am sure you don't get a very large cut on those. Hopefully there were will be many orders. But... frankly, I'd rather spend the money directly in support of IOSPE, so that you get 100% . (I don't need an "incentive" - your fantastic site is incentive enough). So... I could use PayPal, but then THEY get a cut. If you'll tell me where to send a check, I'd like to send one."
Thanks Roberta Fox [who sent in 2 1/2 years subscription] I will add your name to the subscribers list so all can see who supports this international orchid endeavor
