Greetings from Nepal.
Regarding the Community Orchid Conservation Project supported by UNDPs Global
Environmental Fund Small Grants Programme, we have just published a 12 page orchid
booklet in native Nepalese language with color picture of some of the species
found in Nepal. This booklet is to be provided to the beneficiaries in the
project area and for the villagers to understand the importance of saving
orchids. Only parts that are in English are scientific names and names of flower
parts. We were able to bring out this booklet with the help of leading
commercial bank in
Nepal. It is
interesting that financial sectors are also getting involved in environmental
conservation as a part of their corporate social responsibility.
