Doug: P. Taras is registered as boissierianum X pearcei, not ecuadorense. The RHS recognizes ecuadorense as a valid name (e.g. P. Ecua-Bess). If Tetzlaff actually used ecuadorense in his cross then it appears that he mis-registered it.
Why not call the man-made cross P. Richteri (note the capital L)? This would be analogous to Cattleya Hardyana (C. warscewiczii X dowiana) vis-a-vis Cattleya hardyana?
