My thanks to those who corrected my limited Spanish.  A no brainer 
as to who was thinking "trucks" when seeing the "truchas" signs.  In all 
fairness, "trout" is not a high end foreign vocabulary word although I 
do know the French and German words for it since it is often on menus.
    As for Encyclia (vespa?);  so much for three year old memories.  A 
quick check of my pictures and Withner/Harding "The Debatable 
Epidendrums" would lead me to believe it is Pollardia michuacana.
    It would have been helpful to those interested in finding plants in 
the wild if I had said that Belize and Guatemala were the most 
rewarding.   Again, the speciation was limited but we saw many  plants 
in flower (March/three trips) in situ in various Mayan sites, fence 
rows.  citrus groves and open Park trails.  BG
