Dear Viatuer and OGD's I have had Salep many times as I have some Turkish friends who visit and bring it along as a gift to me as they know I am interested in orchids. I can attest that if it is dangerous, it is not something that occurs quickly. My friends who are both in their 70's and have drunk it all their lives and still seem to be alive. I could be mistaken though...... I can also say that it is quite delicious. It is somewhat like tea with milk. On another note IOSPE is up and running better than ever. All the server problems have been worked out. I have just added a ton of info and new photos in the genus Dracula. It is 7 species short of being complete. Great photos and all the information that I can find on each species. Enjoy. In the coming weeks expect lots more on all Asian species. I have also received The Orchids From the Serrania del Baudo and am really impressed by the part of the book about how the author, Guillermo Misas Urreta, prepares and supplies himself to walk into this great untraveled area of western Colombia. with no roads and no supplies. Makes great reading and the rest of the book is on the orchid species that he encounterrs on the treks. A really great book!!!! I am off to the Tamiami orchid show tomorrow!! Can't wait.
